a local shop near me has AAC m4-2000 for $980 and a Surefire Suppressor for 1200 and hes gonna throw the OD mounts for either free of charge. Is the surefire one worth the extra or is the aac just as good or better?
im mainly looking at noise reduction, durability and which can handle more rounds through em. In the last few months ive put 8000 rounds through my 2 ars and plan on doubling or tripling that number before the years up if not the summer looking for one that can handle alot of rounds. thanks in advance. |

I was considering the M4-2000 & the FA556-212. With a little shopping around you can pretty much get either for the same price, or at least within $100 of the other.
I ended up going with the M4, due to availability, and pricing. Reguardless which side of the fence you sit on, I think most would agree that they're pretty much equal, and you wouldn't go wrong with either. I used the extra cash I had left over to buy an AAC Prodigy with the M4. |
| this is the most recent thing but others have reported similar stuff for a while. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_7_109/962550_Knesek_Guns_Inc___Anyone_Else_Experience_anything_like_this_from_this_company_.html |

I will take my business else where. |

The surefire mount doesn't engage anything around the mount. Doesn't engage anything on the mount, really. That's just what I want. A suppressor that is suppose to wobble on its mount. I guess that why they made the 91T mount, huh? If that was the case they should have kept the 18T. Originally Posted By an_her Why is the SF mount better than the AAC 51T? The wobble is to prevent from becoming stuck, like SF cans which are notorious for that issue The Surefire can's emergency removal procedure is always a hoot! AAC vs. Surefire, you're pretty much running on the same marginal utility curve. Never had to buy a SF can myself since my buddy swears by em, I run AAC stuff. For someone who's not yet invested in a platform choose which "looks" better, I believe both to be quality designs which will serve users admirably. There is slight differences in blowback, sound suppression levels, and POI shift, but their respective cans (212 vs. M4-2000, Mini vs. Mini, SPR/M4 vs. FA556) are all pretty close to each other. Supposed issues with the 51T mount are blown way, way, way out of proportion IMHO. My personal M4-2000 has seen many hosts (funny how many folks have suppressor mounts but no can), and i've never had an issue. |

Like you noted, they all sound somewhat similar, and the SF can was lighter and everyone that I know who has a lot of experience with them as well as AAC claims they have less POI shift, I like the latch design better, don't see how the can could become stuck as the latch doesn't latch to the mount, though. I'm not a fan of AAC on principal because of how I perceive that they represent themselves in public on forums. Since both are quality products and will out-last my barrel most likely and sound similar, I went with the one from the company I have had good luck with from the past, and who is more professional in their self-representation on the forums, in my opinion. |
