I think I've narrowed my choice for my next can down to these two. I was leaning heavy toward the Sandstorm for a while, but it looks like the Cyclone-K is only 5.2 ounces more and it's nearly $400 cheaper. On the other hand, it's a substantial amount of money either way, not to mention the long wait. So given that I'd like to do this right the first time. What do you guys think?

It will be used on bolt guns and occasional light 5.56 SBR and 300BLK SBR use.

ETA: I should also say that I plan on using this for some hunting, so weight is a factor.

I think either would be good.  According to this test they sound basically the same on a .308.  The  Sandstorm is lighter, but only .45 shorter.  So your only real difference is the weight.  You just have to decide if that is worth $400 to you.  Weight is a improtant for me, but it's not the cost of a good .22lr can improtant.  I am waiting on a Cyclone K right now...

The $795 Cyclone-K has now been replaced by the $650 Hunter.

The Hunter is heavier though, and there are still Cyclone-Ks out there on the market.

The Hunter is shorter and not as quiet as the Cyclone K.  Also, I don't think it is "replacing" it.  It is just a new can.  I did see the 7.62SD has been discontinued, but not the K.

Actually I had emailed AAC with a couple questions about the Cyclone-K, and they said in the response that it is discontinued. Here's the relevant part of the email:

First off, you should know that we have recently discontinued the Cyclon-K.  There are still some in the market place obviously, but we will not be manufacturing it any more.  It is a great silencer, but we have opted to keep the Cyclone and a new model, which is a bit shorter called the “Hunter”, aimed specifically at 300BLK usage with 16” barrels.

Anyone ever test to see if the Sandstorm produces the sparking effect I keep reading about here with the titanium cans?

Any more opinions on this?

I was pretty well set on the Sandstorm, but now I'm back on the fence. $400 does seem like quite a bit for 5.2 ounces. I hate expensive decisions.

Not gonna help much, but the Cyclone K was one of two forms 4's I mailed last month.

I was in a similar position trying to decide what centerfire can to make my first, an in stock Cyclone K won, and an AAC Pilot 2 wanted to come home with me also, got both.
