| I have an Ar that I use for Varmint hunting. My issue is i normally have more than one infront of me at a time and im looking to quite the rifle down a bit to beter my chances at taking more than one at a time. Any suggestions? |

Check your state laws on hunting suppressed first. For instance here in Indiana we can't hunt a thing, no varmints, nothing, with a suppressor on the gun. There's a law going through the state house to change that, but as it stands, I'd be awful pissed if I bought a can for hunting and found out I couldn't hunt with it! ![]() |

I built up an 18" 1/8 twist rifle length gas wylde chamber .223 ar-15. I use the Gemtech G5-T with great results. Get sub MOA @ 100. Best 5 shot group is 5/8". Use to get the Federal 50gr hollowpoints, but I can't find them anymore. If you don't care about fast attach the Trek-T is a thread on suppressor that weighs 10.3 ounces with an OAL of 5.7". Great cans. Nice and light - easy to pack around.

YHM SS or Ti Phantom 762QD for the win. (for multicaliber capability)
However, unless you're using subsonics, I'm not sure how much a suppressor does at not spooking animals, as a suppressed 223 is still pretty loud... IIRC, Hunting with suppressors in MD is GTG....Don't quote me though. ~WTS |

It is legal to hunt in the great state of Maryland (all animals). FWIW, the animal is going to know that is being shot at and flee. One of the benefits that I have found when hunting hogs in Texas is that they are unsure of where the shots are generated. There have been multiple occasions that I have had hogs toward me while I was shooting at them. Wild hogs do have poor eyesight, but do have good hearing. Another benefit of hunting with a suppressor is reduced recoil/muzzle flip and increased ability to make rapid follow-up shots. You may want to reconsider your host and caliber for your sneakiness, sir. |
