Apparently there is a new Spectre design. The link to the manual on the recently updated website (now swrsuppressors.com) points to the warlock II manual. I'm advising them of it now. So, all you suppressor experts out there - tell us about this new design.
Spectre II The Durable Suppressor With its construction of ultra high performance and tough Stainless Steel, the Spectre II allows weapon fire to go virtually unnoticed. It is not only super tough, but also the quietest 22 suppressor known to man. With the Spectre II, users will also enjoy its multi-caliber versatility. Click Together Assembly (CTA) Baffle Stack The Spectre II has a unique CTA baffle design for easy disassembly and is user serviceable, which is very important for any .22 lr silencer. Because the .22 lr round is not copper jacketed, molten lead and carbon debris will explode into the silencer when the projectile exits the muzzle. After some time it is possible for a .22 suppressor to fill completely with lead and become heavy and ineffective. To avoid this issue .22 silencers must be able to be disassembled for cleaning and regularly maintained. Most .22 silencers on the market can be disassembled for cleaning, however they require cleaning every 50 to 200 rounds or often times they will fuse together and they are unable to come apart. When the lead and carbon debris adhere to the inner wall of the silencer tube and fill the spaces between the baffles and the tube, there is simply too much build up of fouling and lead to remove the tube from most .22 lr silencers on the market. The Spectre II has the unique CTA baffle design that keeps the carbon and lead debris from reaching the silencer tube allowing it to be disassembled easily. |

Have not seen it, but it sounds like the Gemtec Alpine. -Happy Specter (I) owner |

Quoted: It looks like this. It is super quiet. 6" long and lighter than the Spectre I. -Scott http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m565/Amarillo_Tactical/spectre2.jpg And you know this, how? ETA: I am sure they would not release it if it was louder, but curious if you have one or have tested one. |

HA! Overstating things a little bit!? I like SWR as much as the next guy but this statement is a bit over the top. Even my DIY take apart Gemtech OB2 can go way beyond 200 rounds between cleanings. |

I am sure when they are ready to release the numbers, they will. It is not my place to do so for them. Yes, that is the manufacturer's numbers and they will be independently tested, I am sure. This photo slipped from a distributor that probably should not have had it up yet as the can has not been officially released. If I am wrong about this can being "super quiet," then you can come back here and bust my balls. SCo has not made a liar out of me yet. |

I own a lot of .22 cans. I have had baffles stuck like chuck from a few hundred rounds. I don't think that they mean you need a thorough cleaning; however, it helps to break the can apart and get the lead excess buildup out and break the baffles loose from the can. What can you say though, Gemtech makes damn good cans too! |

Do you take trade ins? I have a Gen 1. My guess is that you likely won't be able to hear a sound difference between the gen1 and gen2 unless shooting them side by side in controlled conditions. A change of decibel or two is almost impossible to hear. That said, it sure looks different and it likely will be easier to clean. Whether it actually is the "quietest .22 suppressor known to man" will have to wait until it is tested against others. |

Do you take trade ins? I have a Gen 1. They are going to offer up an "upgrade program" for the GenI owners. At $399 MSRP I would put the upgrade program cost towards a second .22lr Specter (gen 1 or 2). My firing regiment is max 500 rounds an outing, most are 200-300. I have never had to get out my stack pusher tool to disamble (YMMV I usually pull the stack, while still warm, at the range and dump into a jar of Hoppes#9). |
