| I am thinking of putting one on my dpms lrt sass. I have looked all over to find DB levels for supersonic ammo from the shooters position and 1 yard away 90 degrees from the bore exit. If anyone here knows or knows where to find out i would really appreciate it. I just spent a couple hours searching and found nothing so i figured I would see what info the hive had for me. Thanks. |

Silencerresearch.com has a premium membership for $30/year and has the exact test you're asking for on the host you request. In addition it shows numbers when used on a Rem 700 LTR 20" bolt gun, and a 5.56x45 AR-15 with M855.
I'm glad I got my membership there, it's saved me a lot of money. It's a big part of why I got the HVT-QD.... liked it so much I bought the Quicksand (same can in titanium). |

Don't waste your time worrying about DB reduction. Gemtech does not post a DB reduction because they understand so many factors come into play: Host weapon, barrel length, semi or bolt action, round, temperature outside, altitude, humidity level, etc.. If Gemtech were to post a number, a competitor would simple post a number one or two DB less.
Instead, worry about POI shift and if it is consistent. I own an HVT QD and it does a very nice job suppressing .308s on my AR10. More importantly, it reduces recoil significantly and the POI shift from non suppressed to suppressed is zero on that gun. On my 5.56, it is .9 mils. Most importantly, the shift is always the same. |
