What's your preferred method for cleaning threaded adapters?
I have two Kadets fitted with threaded adapters. One is drilled out to just slightly larger than the barrel bore, and the other is opened up significantly more. Both accumulate quite a bit of lead buildup, which eventually I figure affects accuracy. The adapter with a smaller diameter accumulates a little less and a limited amount of fouling comes out when cleaning the barrel. The large diameter adapter accumulates large amounts that will never be removed when cleaning the bore. I've been scraping it out so far, sometimes very carefully with the adapter still on the barrel, and a couple times I removed the adapter to clean it. Next time I clean it I was thinking about just removing it and tossing it in "the dip". I've also considered making a scraper with the inner diameter of the adapter and a shoulder to keep it from ever touching the crown. What do you guys like to do for this? |
