I'm starting to do my research for my SPR build and later an SBR build, both with suppressors, and I was wondering how good the Ops Inc. one's are. My SPR I'm trying to make as close to Milspec as possible, and the SBR...well I think it would just look cool in addition to being a great setup.

Are they good cans for the money? Durable? I'm a serious newbie when it comes to this stuff, and in addition to poking around on the interweb and asking friends, I wanted to hear what the hive thinks.

Ops cans are very good performers and well built.  Ops has a good reputation for quality products and customer service.

Now about your setups, if you want to keep the SPR build as close to the real thing than you should get the 12th model can.  Now if you aren't set on making a true Mk12 clone then I would go with the 16th model.  It has the same baffle stack as the 12th and performs great.  By setting up both rifles to use the 16th model you can also use the M4-S, M4-M, 14th and 15th models.  The 12th model sits a little further back over the barrel so it isn't compatible with the other models without some sort of adapter.

Here are some of my rifles all of which can use the various models except for the 12th.

10.5" LMT MRP with Ops M4-S

16" LMT MRP with Ops 16th

16" LMT MRP with Ops 14th

16" Rock River Entry Tactical with Ops 15th

Mk12 mod 1 clone with Ops 12th

From L to R: 12th, 16th, 15th, 14th and M4-S...waiting for approval on the M4-M...

Hope that helps some.

I have two 12th models, one in 5.56, the other in 6.8. I use them both on SPR clones. I think they are excellent. The materials or finish they use aren't as modern or strong as some of the others available, and while they aren't cheap, they aren't expensive either. Especially considering they came with the $180 mount and collar.

Worst thing about Ops is that your rifle's barrel has to be contoured to accept the collar, and so few barrels come like that right out of the box. Which means you will have to send your barrel somewhere to have that modification done if your barrel doesn't already have it.

I also use the M4S on my guns set up to accept the 12th model. ADCO sells a small spacer that fits in front of a 12th model collar. If you use it, you can use any of the 16th model compatible cans listed above. ADCO is also an excellent place to send your barrels to be profiled to accept the OPS collar. In fact, they are also a great place to purchase Ops products...

Yea I've heard nothing but good about ADCO, and they were my first choice for any modifications I might need.

ADCO is outstanding!!!  I have purchased all my Ops cans from them and I send them any barrels I want setup for the Ops cans.

I own several Ops products and am VERY satisfied with them.  They have a different tone than any other suppressor.

If you are building an SPR clone, the barrel contour issues that may bother some are not really an issue since there are several really good SPR contour barrels available setup specifically to use the Ops Inc 12th Model suppressor.  For my SPR build I wanted to use my 16th Model, which is just a little shorter than the 12th.  I contacted White Oak Armament and they were able to contour one of their SPR barrels for the 16th setup.

My 12th Model is the .30-caliber version, shown here on the rifle in the back.

The rifle in the front of that picture is a select-fire M4 on which I've run a 16th Model for several years and several thousands of rounds.  The muzzle brake takes a lot of abuse, so the core of that suppressor looks really good and not too bad for the abuse it has seen.  Still sounds like a new 16th too.

If you are looking at an Ops Inc product, buy with confidence.  The products are well made, very quiet and plenty durable.
