I want an AR-15 rifle take can fire reliably with a suppressor attached for extended periods of time without extensive cleaning. I don't like the idea of needing to take off a searing hot flesh burning can after 150 rounds because the action is too gummed up to be reliable. I was considering a 14.5" Noveske Switchblock with a Spikes Tactical Nickel Boron bolt carrier or a 14.5" LWRC M6A3 (because it has an adjustable gas block and a nickel-boron action). I already have an 18" POF and a M4-2000, but I want an alternative to my heavyass POF beast. Someone on another post mentioned using a heavy buffer spring and buffer to slow down the cycling (I'll try this). Does anyone have any testimonials with either the Noveske Switchblock or LWRC M6A3?
I know having a shorter barrel helps reduce blow back build up, but I don't want to wait for a SBR. |

Most well lubed AR's will run very well even if the action is not perfectly clean. I know many people that have put 1,000 rounds plus in a single range day with a suppressor attached and have had zero malfunctions. Of course the gun is filthy, but it is a tool and not ment to be all looks! I recently bought a 12.5 inch noveske switchblock upper to cut back on the blow back. I really think the piston systems are over hyped when it comes to reducing fowling and blowback when a silencer is in use. I say go with the switchblock over the LWRC. And believe it or not shorter barrels will produce more blow back and fowling than longer barrels, so be happy you are sticking to a longer barrel in that regard! Good luck and have a good one! |

I ran a 2-day carbine course with my 11.5" barreled rifle and shot well over 1,000 rounds over two days - all 100% supressed - even in the driving rain. All I did was spray in some CLP during lunch. I did this to prove to myself that my SBR would be reliable if I ran it hard. That said, a switch block would be a great purchase, but it's not necessary. When I looked into one a long time ago, Noveske was only selling the switch block on complete uppers. |
