Stupid question everybody. I've had my Phantom a little over a year now. I'm working on building a 17 mach 2 dedicated upper. Anybody know if I can shoot 17m2 through it and be okay? Or maybe have any other suggestions? I'm pretty sure I can kiss the odds of keeping this little round subsonic goodbye.

I would think that you would be fine. I shoot .22 lr through mine all of the time and you are talking about a smaller diameter bullet.  Just to be sure though, just give the guys at yhm a call.  They will tell it to ya straight.

I asked them a couple years ago about doing the same thing with 17hmr though my phantom 556 and they said it was fine.  Just not gonna be the best suppression, but still help.  Plus, it'll be a little heavy on a little 17 maybe.  I'm waiting on my Checkmate to use on my Savage 17hmr.

Are 17m2 bullets copper jacketed or just lead or "copper plated" lead?  If its jacketed, then you're fine.  If not, It'd be kinda like shooting .22lr through a 556 can and all the associated leading issues, eh.

thanks for the info guys. Hey benjio, did you ever shoot your HMR through the can? How good or bad was the sound reduction?

5.56 is like Mach 3 so Mach 2 should be fine.
