I'm considering a suppressor for a 20-inch barreled AR-15 .223. I want the rifle to function semi-automatically whether the can is on or off. Do I need a different gas system for on and off?

Would it be the same answer if I do it to a 7.62 AR?

no, your rifle should function with the standard gas system regardless if suppressor is attached or not.

Yep.

But, you can also throw heaps of money at it in piston or adjustable gasblock upgrades and end up with a rifle that does the same.

Thanks. I'm not looking for an elegant solution - just one that works.
