So, after a ten day wait, my dealer finally gets me the application papework.  I, of course, promptly damage one of the fingerprint cards in a freak Scotch Tape accident .

How anal is the ATF/FBI about these cards?  The damage can be "worked around" by having my prints taken slightly below the damaged area, but ???

The dealer apparently has to send off for this paperwork at the company headquarters, and I'm not really liking the idea of waiting another week and a half for him to provide me with another card.

1) If you are just talking about that line, it will be fine.

2)  You can get blank 258's from many places and just put the correct ORI info all it.

3) If you really want another one I can mail it to you and you can have it in a couple of days...

A piece of advice. When you get your prints done be sure the print is past the first line on each finger. I had my cards kicked backed 64 days in because the SO didn't show anything but just my fingerprint pads. Over 90 days now

That is no big deal at all. as long as the print is "classifiable" readable that is, then your fine. By the looks of the pic there's nothing to be concerned about. The other option is to pay a visit to your local ATF field office and ask for an "applicant card".

The nice old lady at the sheriff's office said that they were fine.

That being said, she sure didn't waste any time in taking them.  I dunno what acceptable fingerprints look like, but some of the prints looked far from perfect.  We'll see...

Now waiting on the sheriff's signature.

Yep, the first joint of the finger. The shit of it was the S.O's finger print machine said it was fine.

If the FBI computer cannot get the desired bio metrics off the card.....your going to have to send in some more and get back in line.  Ive read that if you have had an approval in the last 6 months, they can use those prints.....not sure on that.
