What could one expect from supressing a .22 with a 9MM can?  I am primarily thinking Ruger MKI, II, or III.  It takes at least standard velocity to cycle the action on the pistol.  My 10/22 does not cycle standard 100% reliably, at least PMC scoremaster, but works great with high velocity, Ely target, etc.  I know the pistol will not cycle Aquilar Colibry at all, that as a single shot is pretty quiet!

Any comments appreciated.

Unless you can take the 9mm silencer apart for service, don't shoot 22LR through it.  You will get a sound signature about as loud as the worst 22LR silencers on the market today.  Its best to buy a 22LR silencer if you want quiet.

This.

My vote goes to the SilencerCo Sparrow.

I have an Outback II which I LOVE.  That said, my next .22 can will be a Checkmate from Griffin Armament/Hearing Protection.  It's alot of can for $225.

I can't fault anyone for wanting a Sparrow from Silencerco though. That is arguably the "coolest" can on the market.  It's a bit more spendy but it does have features that can't be found anywhere else.  The tube-in-a-tube design is simply genious.  I have an Osprey 45 from those guys and the company and people are as good as it gets.

cheers, Benji

Not to mention that it IS a quiet can. Cool only counts for so much, its also a very quiet can.

Hopefully I can take mine home soon...

i have personally heard an AAC Evo-9 on a Ruger 10/22 and it is VERY QUIET.  if you do it a few times, i don't think the lead build up will hurt it too much. plus it looks cooler since a 9mm can is about a 1/4" to 1/2" wider in diameter.

Never done it personally, but I've heard that it's pretty quiet. Search on youtube; there are videos of people running this exact setup.

I'll never try it.. 22 is too dirty. My TAC65, which I can take apart, is what I shoot 22 through.

Tried it a few times for kicks.  Gemtech Trinity 9mm on a 10/22.  Sounded about like a YHM Mite.
