I have a M4-96D on my POF .223.  I have shot a few hundred rounds since my last cleaning.  I can't get the can off the mount.  The can unscrews at the endcap.  It won't move up/down.

I have soaked the mount/can with Wipe-Out.  No success yet.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

This happens with my G-5 after a long shooting session.  I usually use a nylon or rubber headed hammer to break it loose.  I'm sure Gemtech will chime in about cleaning/maintenance before long.  Did you post this question in the Industry section Gemtech forum?

Does the spring compress at all ?  Mine has never gotten stuck.

It moves about 1/8".  I beat it pretty good and it hardly moved.  I'm going to put 30 rounds through it and then try and take it off with gloves.  That is what I do when my multi-mount gets tight.  Heat always seems to help.

I've been reading alot of threads where gemtechs bi-lock is doing this.  Is this common with them if you do long sessions at the range or are the shooters to blame for something they did wrong when installing it?

As with any suppressor that goes on over a flash hider - the user needs to clean the carbon build up from time to time.  When I said long shooting session - I hadn't cleaned the flash hider for several thousand rounds.  It was due and I knew it but didn't want to spend the time cleaning before going out bunny hunting.

Bang it on the ground, muzzle end down, like you are driving the barrel into the ground.

Rubber mallet and a little oil will get it off. I had the same problem withmy M4-96D and I sent it to Gemtech and Dr. Dater put a G5 mount on it for me. No more mallet in the range bag and I am very happy with it. I just got my '09 HALO and it rocks. I love my Gemtech cans.
