Can I just spray it with Brake cleaner??

I got to re-do one gun. Was taking the can off and the brake came off with it..
That sucked..

Brake cleaner should work fine. You want to use any de-greaser. Acetone also works well. You want the threads dry and solvent/oil/grease-free before you apply the Rocksett.

I give mine a heavy shot of brake cleaner, then dry it off with a shot of compressed air.
I put a drop of rockset on the threads and screw the device on and torque it tight.
