Does using a suppressor on a handgun, such as a Multimount w/booster on a SIg226, cause more ware and tear on the host then normal shooting? I have a multimount on the way and trying to decide what to use as a host. I have a 9mm Sig that has some meaning to me and do not want to cause it to wear out before what is caused by normal use.

Or should I just buy a used Sig that has no meaning that I can abuse without worrying about it?

I wouldn't worry about it. It will make the host gun dirtier though. A Sig P226 is a great host. Oh and be sure to keep an eye on the suppressor unscrewing itself during shooting. My pistol thread on cans tend to unscrew themselves, never had a baffle strike, i just tighten it back up after each mag i shoot.

Properly designed boosters shouldn't really cause any undue wear and tear on your pistol. The larger silencer makers put a lot of r&d time into making sure their stuff is properly designed and your MultiMount should be fine. I really like my 229 host and it's a blast to shoot.

However, there are some considerations with some hosts that are not pertinent to your situation but do exist on other platforms. I've had quite a few silencer manufacturers and 1911 smiths all echo the same thing: a bushingless bull barreled 1911 is prone to damage but a regular bushing barrel doesn't exhibit the same problems with cracking at the locking lug. Again not pertinent to your situation but a good reminder.

A former Sig factory rep has relayed something that WILL damage your Sig:  "non-toxic" LEO training ammo.  This ammo has both a lead-free primer and a lead-free bullet.  It is used by many, but not all, LEO agencies & is available for civilian sales.  It can virtually strip the rifling out of your barrel over time if you fire enough of it.

Hhhmm...interesting. I had never heard this before. Good thing I have very little of that stuff in 9mm-less then 50 rounds.
