I am getting a G5 in.556 and putting it on a STAG 16" upper. Would you send the upper and suppressor quick mount to Gemtech and have them install it or would you install it yourself?

Since I am new to putting on a suppressor, advice from those that have ,matter to me. I have read here that the threaded muzzle needs to be concentric to the bore. Are all barrel threads concentric to the bore? How would I even check? So, what I was asking is " Do STAG barrels need to be checked before installing suppressor QD?

I would certainly have someone check it for you. Factory threading can be really hit or miss. I found this out the hard way.
A buddy of mine recently bought a 762SD. He wanted to hear how his armalite AR-10 would sound with it on so he came shooting with me and we used my 762SD on his gun. The first round out of his gun resulted in a baffle/endcap strike due to the threads not being concentric to the bore. As a result my 762SD is at AAC (who are moving so it will be a while before I get my suppressor back) and his rifle is at APA getting rethreaded. |

My Spike's M4LE upper is on the way back from Adco as I type this. The 16" barrel was cut to 14.5-ish and I had them permanently install a Smith/Gemtech Vortex G5 mount.
I am not a machinist or a gunsmith, and, when looking at the amount of money I put into my G5, I'd rather pay a touch more and leave it to the pros as a bit of insurance. I will do this with EVERY barrel on which the G5 will be mounted, including one that they have already cut and threaded for me. |

BravoCharlie Have Gemtech do it. I did on both my TPRS and M496D hosts. It's cheap insurance with a $1000 investment. |

I thought about using Gemtech, too, but like spreading my money amongst Industry Partners. Adco is both a reputable shop and a Gemtech dealer and, as John Stoner said below, the price is right. |

I've had a few things done by Gemtech with good results (Rem 700 .308 LTR, Yugo M70AB2 7.62x39, Beretta CX4 Storm 3-lugged, and several other things).
I've also had good work by ADCO (Kahr CW9 threaded/extended 1/2x28, RRA 9mm AR cut/threaded at 10.5" 3-lugged). I think you're good to go either way, whichever suites your spending fancy. Having gone both ways, I would send it to ADCO (no offense to Gemtech, the price is right) have it cut at 14.5" & perm attach the G-5 bilock. I'm a big fan of the G-5, and think you made a good choice. |
