I wont say how, but my Gemtech Multi-mount got overpressured. Baffles cracked and the tube bulged in the area where the adapter threads.

Anyway, Gemtech repaired it and charged me a nominal fee. It was a fair price.

They wound up having to shorten the can 1.5 inches. I am thrilled with the new shorter length.
But my tax form still says its 7 inches ... Not 5.5 inches

What do I do?

Personally, I wouldn't do anything except keep my mouth shut.

But whatever you do, don't write any friggin' letters.

According to the ATF NFA Handbook you are ok.  There is a section on silencer repair and it says that it can be shortened but not extended.  Like osprey21 said...don't ask them...just download the handbook and keep it for a record.

Anyone who can tie their shoes knows better than that.

(this is a joke)

Just don't repeat whatever you did to start the whole process in the first place.
