I was watching Mr & Mrs Smith the other day and the pistol that he uses in the house caught my eye...When He's fighting Angelina Jolie, he goes up stairs and pulls a stainless 1911 out and screws on a matching stainless can.

I was thinking I could go with a stainless 1911 in .45, and then the new tirant or osprey but does anyone know if a can can be chromed? or if I can order one unfinished (not blackened yet)?

I'm thinking it would get too hot to be chromed, but I'm not sure.

Another way I could go is 9mm, but does anyone know of a 'good' 9mm chrome can?

Thanks guys,

Tom

That is indeed a nice setup and Hollywood quiet as well.  Never scene chrome but I would imagine it could take the heat.....performance headers on cars are chromed....which gets me to thinking I wonder if you could jet hot coat a can....?

If bores can be chromed, a can certainly can be.

I think cans get hotter.
Not often do you see an incandescent barrel, but all the hot gasses are trapped in the can.
I've been wrong before.

Could be sure?  But I don't know.  That looks an awful lot like plain aluminum, as a movie can probably would be.  I don't know how how barrels get, but I did almost melt a M16A2 gas tube once... saying it was a glowing neon red would be a disservice to the real temperature!

Oh, I'm pretty sure the prop is fake, I was talking about a tirant (.45 or 9mm) or osprey that i could get chromed or not parked or anodized or whatever...

I am not sure titanium will hold chrome well, so I can't speak about the TiRant suppressor.  I have seen many of AAC's suppressors before they were sent out for coloring.  They can be polished to look like chrome but as soon as you get it really hot your chrome like finish will rainbow.  Even chrome performance headers have that rainbow effect closest to the heat source.

That looks more like a polished stainless steel vs. chrome like you said. I know its personal preference but chrome gets pretty heavy, not sure you would want the extra weight up front. I dont think it would balance out very well.
