I got my can a few months ago, 7.62 Phantom QD, and I must say I am happy with it. The sound reduction is good especially on my .308 bolt gun. It attaches perfectly on my .30 flash hider, but on my .22 cal flash hider it stops between the teeth when its fully tighten and I think the can is tweaked a bit which would explain the POI shifts I was seeing. I called YHM and they told me to back it off until it locks in the teeth, but now the can feels loose on the flash hider. Not real loose but you can definetly wiggle it a bit. Any one else have this happen to them? I haven't got a chance to call YHM about it since I tried backing it off but I will tommorow. I know what some will say "you should have bought a better can" and believe my If I had the money would have went a different route. Bryon at major malfunction was a great guy to deal with and he helped me decide on this can because of my budget. I will buy a dedicated 5.56 can in the future but for now this one will have to do. Anyway if anyone has seen this let me know. Maybe the little wiggle is a big deal, I just wanted some input

The way the YHM mount works, back it off just a few degrees until it seats properly. The alignment is done at the 'nose' of the mount, but the gripping and holding (only) is provided by the wave washer on the 4-pronged ring's 'teeth'. If the mount feels soft, I'd suggest either swapping the wave washer yourself, or sending the flash hider back to YHM. |
| I thought that the 22 cal flash hiders nose didn't go in far enough, becasue of the cans expansion chamber, the 30 cal FH is a bit longer so I could see how the nose aligns the can there, but I thought just looking at the 22 cal that it didn't go in that far. I guess I was wrong. I will call YHM to see what they say though. Thanks for your input. Much appreciated. |

No the 1/2x28 22 cal flash hider will work with the 7.62 can. But the 5/8x24 30 cal flash hider will not work with the 5.56 can. This is according to YHM company. You should be able to mount the 7.62 Phantom can onto a 5.56 phantom QD flash hider. The 7.62FH has a longer nose. 5.56 can will not mate to the 7.62FH. Let's stick with 5.56 since I think "22" confused some posters here. |
