Does anyone own an upper with a Noveske Switch Block?  How do you like it?  What are the noticable differences when firing suppressed?

No one on this forum has ever fired a weapon, let alone a silencer. It’s like guys in a bar, the ones who were Green Berets, Navy SEALs and LRRP, killed more than 3 billion VC with just their Ka-Bar and protected us from the LGMs (Little Green Men). They’re the ones who post on this board about how their suppressed 10/22 can hit a silver dollar at a thousand yards and can’t be heard by a long eared bunny sitting right in front of the muzzle. And then there are MEN. They’re the ones who sit quietly listening and observing their surroundings and thinking. They don't get drunk and cause fights, and they’re the only ones who’ve ever seen action, but they never talk about it. Unfortunately for us arf'ers they actually use suppressors and Noveske Switchblock's and because of that their posts are so quiet that you can’t hear them on this board.

(Done in slightly humorous tongue and cheek)

To actually answer your question instead of some random, off topic reply, I have an 18" MSTN upper build with the Switchblock installed. While it does reduce the amount of gas blowing back into the upper and reduces the junk you have to clean after shooting with a suppressor, it is not entirely necessary. Did I appreciate the fact it made cleanup alot easier? Yes. There was a difference between shooting with the suppressor and Switchblock set to suppressed mode and with the Switchblock set to normal mode.

Your stuff will get dirty, just not as bad as with a normal gasblock. So the real question should be is the extra money you spend on it, worth the reduction of junk blown back into your upper/mags and cleanup time.

Also, the brass was not as dirty with the switchblock too, which might be a bonus if you reload.

I have a 16" switchblock barreled upper I am itching to get out and try.

Gas blow back in the face is what I am hoping it fixes.  I don't mind a dirty upper but the gas just sucks.

I was going to get a piston upper then went with a Noveske. I just got it this week and only put a few rounds through it so time will tell. So far it was worth it. The gas in my face is reduced and the rounds in top of the mag look way cleaner than before the switch block. i'm pleased so far.

How much are they?

I just ordered a 3 position gas block from Paladin Machine Service here in SC for $60.

Hope to stick it on my AR10.

I think they're around 150.  I'm very interested in the PMS gas block. Please give us a report on how it works.  Also, I'm curious as to whether the new gas block could fit under a rail system.

Supposedly the version that uses a slot for the adjustment is designed to fit under a handguard but u need to get at it with something to turn it.

He also makes a paddle, which is what I got, and a pin version but I heard the pin is long and needs to be cutdown so it doesn't hit your rail.

I have two Paladin adjustable blocks on AR10's.  One has a paddle, the other a pin.   I had to cut the pin in order to clear the PRI tube, the paddle block sits just in front of a SWS rail.

I posted a pic of the paddle block here:  http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=62&t=448537

You will have to cut off the end of a gas tube.  I was able to use a cut down AR15 gas tube for this on both of my AR10's.

Paladin can make one for pretty much any barrel diameter.

I saw your pic and how close the GB is to the rail...any issues with it actually hitting the rail while firing or screwing with barrel harmonics and accuracy?

I shot my clamp on switchblock yesterday.  I got tired of the gas in the face so I bought a gasbuster and switchblock.  Gas problem solved.
As a bonus using it as a single shot suppressed is nice.  I shot it on my 14.5" M4 upper on my M16 lower.  The suppressed setting definately sends way less gas back.  It even reduced the full auto rate of fire by about 50 rds/min.  Actually, the suppressor increased the rate of fire on auto, but the suppressed setting of the switchblock brings it back to unsuppressed rate of fire.

I am happy now!!!
