I am lookinig at getting 5.56 suppressor, and I have heard and shot the G5.  Sounded great to me.  My question is:  I have seen that there are a few quieter ones out there on silencer research, but is it that noticeable to the human ear?  And if so, is it a big difference?  Also, I was wondering if the Surefire is any quieter or about the same?  I know they are good but I don't see any data on them anywhere.  Thanks.

The G5 is great and mounts w/ease. Its a great choice when you have multiple weapons for hosts.

Suppression on a .223 is a little different then a 9mm whatever can you buy.

Don't get overly hung up on decibels. Anything within 1 to possibly 2 dB of each other sound identical. Almost everyone can hear 3 dB difference, very few can hear 2dB, and virtually none can hear 1 dB difference. Most published data done by reputable testers is an average of 10 rounds. Only a few of the ethically challenged will list the single highest reading in the string as typical. Further, the meters measure sound levels way beyond the range of human hearing, and meters respond to the single highest peak. I have tested a lot of suppressors, and within a string there will be shot-to-shot variations of several decibels. The only difference I can hear is the first round, which is usually loudest and usually more than 3 dB louder than the average of the remaining rounds.

Pick a suppressor based on the features you consider important and your level of comfort with the manufacturer.

Shameless Plug: All this said, the G5 is hard to beat.

The one I have, and the ones my friends have work great.  Heard next to other manufacturer's cans I like them as much or more.

Love that G-5
