Just got a .22lr upper from spikes. Which manufacturer/model suppresses the sound on a AR in .22 best?
ETA: From what I've read the swa spectre is the way to go, but I'm wondering if there is another comparable in sound suppression and quality yet a little cheaper. |

Buy once, cry once. The Spectre sounds awesome on my Tactical Solutions AR-22.
My three favorite .22 cans right now are the Spectre, the Silencerco 22Sparrow and the AAC Element. They are all high quality and come apart for cleaning. They all sound close in sound. The Element sounds just a hair quieter than the Spectre and Sparrow on short barrel pistols but they are all close. The Spectre I think sounds just a bit quieter on a rifle, but again all very close. To me it is more a matter of coming down to what is important to you including materials, weight, ease of taking apart, ease of putting back together, etc. Mark |

You always, always, always buy right the first time and only cry once. This goes triple for suppressors.
For your needs the SWR Spectre is the king, hands down. I absolutely love mine. The balance was a little "off" at first when I used it on my TacSol/MKIII pistol but I'm used to it now and don't even notice the front end weight. Seeing how filthy a .22LR can gets when I disassemble my Spectre, I can't believe that folks would still go with a sealed can design over the end user serviceable cans like the Spectre. The only savings is in weight... However, the sturdier design and disassembly capability of the Spectre more than makes up for the extra weight. JMHO. |
