So I'm in the market for a suppressor. I've sent emails to Surefire and AAC about this but have not recieved a response yet. My question for the more experinced shooters out there is:

After you buy a suppressor and rag it out can you send it back to the manufacturer, have it destroyed, and pay for a new/upgraded one BUT keep the same serial number? Is the serial number the only part that matters? This would save me on tax stamps and paper work but I don't know if anyone could or woud do it. Thanks

No. They can clean/replace the internals/baffles, but the outside tube(the serialized portion) cannot be destroyed. It must be re-used. They can't just make a new one with the old serial number.

You have to reuse the serialized portion... but it is unlikely your going to wear out a AAC or Surefire can...
