What is the norm on ordering suppressors?  I went to a local shop pre-paid, then they say that I have to wait for them to get the item in house before I can fill and send my paper work in, about 4 weeks before they get it, and then the 4-12 weeks for my paper work.  Is this correct?  I thought the info would be sent to the dealer and I could submit my paperwork, it kind of makes sense incase something happens from the manufacture to the dealer or dealer to dealer.

Thanks,
D

It is when dealing with a dealer that doesn't stock or a model that the dealer doesn't stock. They usually take the money, then start the transfer process. They have to form3 the suppressor from the manufacturer (or other stocking dealer) and then form4 it to you. It will probably be 4-5 month wait now.

Mine took around 7 months.  Manufacturer had to make the can, 1 month, then wait for the tansfer to the dealer I bought it from, transfer to my dealer for the form 4, send in form 4 and wait for that to come back from the BATFE.

That was last year when Form 3 transfers were 1 month and Form 4s were 2 months.  I hear it's much longer on the Form 4s now.

At least my dealer was so nice to let me shoot the can when my Form 4 was in the works.  :D

Would the deal need to be with you at a range, seeing how it is in thier name?

I will never purchase another can that is not in stock. I find a dealer with one in stock, purcahse it have them transfer to my dealer. With the panick buying that has been going on lately manufacturers are backed up at this point and i don't have the patience.

I waited way too long for a dealer, i no longer do business with to recieve it from the manufact. It was clearly my dealers fault

You should call the manufacturer and make sure they have them on the shelf otherwise you could be waiting ALOT longer than 4-5 months. If they dont get your money back and find one in stock and dont let your dealer shit talk you.

Some of the form3s are taking a month or more these days. And a few guys around here have had their form 4s take a year. That was a few years ago though. My first can took five months a few in between took a month. My last set took two months, but that was before the latest push/Obama increase.

I still have a form 1 and a few form 4 s that need to happen soon.......

My local class3 put in for an AAC can for me yesterday. Can is 8 weeks out (manf.) then will have to be transfered to him 4+ weeks. Then Form4 to me. So what 7 months or so?

Yeah unfortunately AAC is a little backed up on the 7.62 cans at the moment hopefully the wait wont be that long to make it.
