It was/is raining out and I was burning up some ammo on my day off. I thought she was poping a little loud, but not bad, could be the rain. So I go inside and weight her shes at 2.69 ounces, according to www.gem-tech.com/outback.html she should be 2.5oz. I do not have a real round count on her but I would say its from 2000-3000. I read, might be BS that I can not sent it in to be cleaned up, b/c of a ruling. What is the hives thoughts about the can not being about to be worked on? And at 2.69 about how much longer before I need to worry about this? |

I wouldn't worry about it being clogged-up with only that many rounds thru it and, you can still send it back to Gemtech for service if it bothers you that much. Read this thread and take note of Kel's post. www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=20&t=253432 |
You are worried that you can weighs .19oz more than when it started? Seriously? When it weighs 5 oz because its full of lead, then you should consider sending it back to Gemtech for a rebuild. If you send it back for .19 you will be spending ALOT of money for rebuilds. Shoot it and enjoy it when there really is a loss in suppression you will know it. My guess is you are hearing things. Am I far off? -TS FFL/SOT |

WOW.....OC about the weight are ya'? You got lotsa' room left. My Outback II is "A fat Sally" at 4.8 oz. on the digitial postal scale. I'm over 8000 rounds (mostly Fed bulk pack) but the 400 of Remington Thunderbolt that I used before I knew about "softer lead" added most of the weight. The Aguilla really stinks and seemed to have a lot of CRUD too. I think mine will hold more than 5 oz. & sound the same. Also when new, mine weighed almost 2.8 oz. and sometimes 2.9 oz. (depending on where and how I set it on the scale) not the 2.5 oz. claimed. Not saying 2.5 is incorrect but it wasn't what my scale read. Maybe one day I'll send it in....I'll take the weight again when it leaves and when it comes back just for a reference. |
wow I click on a link, read a few more links and post back with out looking for more posts.
I do wish I had the forthought the know its True starting weight. I do have some CDC i think, but it just seemed a little louder then nomral, It could have been temp, humidiy, the rain, i do not.
I was just asking we all have to start somewhere. |

When the Outback-II gets around 7 ounces, it may be time to consider sending it back for a new baffle stack, which we can change here. Cost currently runs around $135 plus some shipping to bring the total to $150. Turnaround is usually less than 30 days. You really don't need to worry about a fraction of an ounce. Of course, the easily disassembled suppressors (which are usually larger for the same performance level) allows you to experience the joy of toxic lead exposure rather than the manufacturer. We actually do have ways of keeping the lead out of the atmosphere when we rebuild. |
hey i kinda get a kick out all the lead chunks and dust that comes out of my checkmate when i clean it |
