I just bought a AAC M42000MOD08 and the dealer told me that there will be a 4-6" POI shift. I hope he doesnt know what he is talking about and its much less than that. What is typical for suppressors? Do they vary greatly with brand/host weapon? It will be run on a 12.5" GTS operator(mike rock) barrel. |
| why is that? I tried searching around but dont see much on POI shift. Surefire markets their cans as little to no shift so I was curious why AAC didnt. Is it the threading of the barrel or what that can cause such a shift? Is there more of it in a general ar vs a match grade barreled ar? |

It changes barrel harmonics. I have a AAC SPR/M4 and it has 5 mounting positions for a selectable POI shift. The various points correspond to a shift between 3.5 and 1 MOA. I use the 1 MOA setting obviously. This is the same can/barrel/ammo/mount just at 5 different orientations on the mount. You can accomplish the same thing by shimming your Blackout mount round and round till you get a better POI shift. Concentricity of your threads to the bore is also of the utmost importance. Additionally just using a different flash hider can alter your POI so a silencer is usually going to move it too as its far more invasive than a different flash hider. |
