I know that this has been talked to death but here is my question:

My dealer says that he sells the most of the Odessey II and the AAC (aviator, prodigy, pilot)

I am running a GSG SBR.  So what do the ARFCOMM experts think with these options.

I looked on silencer research but there is alot of technical information I am new to the suppressor world.

I currently own an Evo-9 on my CA-94 SBR and love it.

those were target loads... It's scary quiet with subsonic ammo, I just don't have any video of it yet.

+1 to this.

I have a CheckMate and love it. The 3 lug would look right on that GSG-5 as well.

+1 on the Checkmate, quietest can I have right now and it's also user serviceable.

I personally haven't heard of the Odysey2.  Who makes it?

The Checkmate QD has a 3-lug styled QD mount wo it will closer resemble a MP5 as well!

I personally thrilled with the Checkmate and am now taking it out more than my other 22lr cans.

I went the less expensive route and got a TAC 65 can. I don't have it yet but I did shoot one and it was quite enough for me. Also was the only one the dealer had in stock. $249

I think that AWC makes the Odessey but could be wrong, I think that I will call the shop tomorrow and see if they will get me a Checkmate, I heard alot of good things before this thread as well.

Thanks for the input.

A good friend has an AAC Aviator and it is great. We've shot it on a P22, Ruger MKII, Ruger 10/22, Ruger Charger, and Tactical Solutions AR upper in .22LR.

Coming out of the P22 with Remington Subsonic, it is "Hollywood Quiet". It's a bit louder out of the rifles, mostly due to greater velocity. The MKII is a great host as well.
The Aviator is significanly more quiet than the Pilot and Prodidgy. Not sure how it compares to other brands.

AAC Aviator: Highly recommended!

will a 22lr can work on a ceiner converted ar15? or will it be screwy with the .223 barrel

It will work, but you will need a spacer for it. AR barrel threads generally run .6" in length. A lot of the .22 can threads are only .4" in length. So the AR barrel could end up touching the Blast Baffle in a .22 can.

The SWR Spectre is good to go. It's threads are .6" long, for this type of application.

ETA: I believe the Silencer Research owner, was thinking about making these spacers.

Technical mumbo jumbo aside, here is straight up test results regarding noise reduction:

It ain't as good as hearing them side by side, but it's the next best thing...

What's the barrel length on the GSG?  If it's closer to rifle length I'd imagine you want to check out the Tula results.

Gemtech does a GSG setup.  Not sure if they retrofit existing guns or not.

Sorry for the thread hijack, but what did you think of the TacSol 22LR upper?  I have not been able to find much actual usage info on them.

Thanks.

It was pretty cool. It had an M4 barrel and the upper fit right onto a Cav Arms lower. Initially it was very tight and didn't want to run consistently with subsonic loads at first. Once it was broken in, it was a lot of fun and ran like a top. Super accurate too. The birdcage was threaded 1/2x28 just like the supressor so that made life easy.

Would I buy one? Probably not for the price, especially with what you can build in .22 for that kind of money. This is purely my opinion (and budget) so don't let that stop you. It's a very high quality product.

Was it cool as hell? Yeah!

Thanks for the info.  I am going to get a 22LR upper the question is whether it will be a TacSol or a Spikes.

This is good to hear....since I'm waiting on papers for a Checkmate to clear right now.

Btw, what all models of .22 cans do you have? I anguished over the available choices before I committed to the Checkmate.

You made the right choice...

Right now I have a SWR Warlock, YHM Mite, YHM Wraith22, HTG Universal and the HP Checkmate.

The Warlock is the quietest non-user-serviceable can I have.

The Checkmate is noticeably quieter than the Mite.  Checkmate is the quietest of all the 22 cans I have it may have to do with the fact that its 6" long as well, but its quietest.

DISCLAIMER: Testing is based off my ears and no mechanical testing.

Thanks, this is what I wanted to hear! The fact that it is quieter to the ear means more to me than numbers.
