When you unscrew the normal barrel end cap on a stock Walther P-22, there is a rubber 0-ring that comes off with and remains in place on the barrel end cap.  Do you put that same o-ring onto the Gemtech P-22 suppressor adapter when you screw that adapter onto the barrel?  The Gemtech adapter does not come with an o-ring, nor does its instructions mention anything about an o-ring, so I assume it is not necessary.  However, I'd rather ask the experts than assume.  Anything that can go wrong, usually happens to me : )  Thanks in advance.

Never saw an o-ring on my p-22. Must not hurt, I've been running it for a year or so now w/o issue. <shrug>

Thanks for the quick reply.  Yeah, if you never unscrew the factory end cap from the barrel, you'll never see it.  It is smushed in there to keep the factory end cap from vibrating off.  The diameter of the o-ring is less than the diameter of the barrel itself...and "disappears" from view when the factory end cap is in place.

Mine has no o-ring and my parts sheet doesn't list one.

If you all use the wrench included with your P-22 and unscrew your factory barrel ends, you will find one.  I guarantee it.  My question is simply do we need to transfer that o-ring to the Gemtech thread adapter.  Thanks again.

Just to clarify.  This is not an externally visible o-ring like that on some of the HK barrels.

Leave it off. the o-ring can compress unevenly and could cause a baffle strike. It's not needed.

Thanks.  I'll definitely leave it off.  I do not want a baffle strike.

I've had a P22 for four years and I never noticed this.

i just pulled mine apart and i don't have one. nor does it look like there is any area even provided for one on the bbl or the cap itself. mine is an older model. i wonder if this is something on the newer versions only?

I can't take close ups with my digital, so this pic is horrible.  The arrow gives you the location of the o-ring.  The o-ring is contained in a groove.  It sits in there nice and tight, so I'm not going to dig it out for a pic.  I don't want to ruin it.  Trust me, it's there.  Again, I apologize for the blurry pic.  This is the factory barrel end-cap that comes off with the supplied wrench.  This is not the Gemtech thread adapter.  The fact that the Gemtech thread adapter has no o-ring, nor an o-ring groove, plus what some have said here tells me that I don't want to use this o-ring on my Gemtech thread adapter.  The spent shell envelope for the P22 says May 10. 2007.

interesting,

i just looked at mine, if i had to guess i'd say mine is 2004ish<?>

my nut does not have the grove at the base as your does, it's solid. and no o ring.

mine is the "limited edition" kit that came with both bbls the scope mount and redot.

Ran 200 rounds this weekend, added to 3000 rounds or so with no O ring.

No issues.

What O-ring? I bought 4 P22s with date code from 05-07 with no O-ring

Check out the pic for location.  It is there...a thin black rubber gasket.  If you were to screw the factory barrel-end back on, it would squash between the rear of the factory barrel end and the barrel...presumably to negate it vibrating off during firing.  You guys aren't going to make me pry that thing out and take a pic are you

Have they fixed the issues with the P22?  I had a couple where the magazine would fall out while shooting, the sights shot loose, and one wouldn't cycle.

Are they worth trying out again?  I'd love to get a suppressed P22 setup if it were at least somewhat reliable.

mine has several 1000 rnds through it with no issues at all. i did have to tweak the safety spring for more tension but that was a minor issue.
