I have read in some opinions that there is a large performance difference in a .22 pistol from a 4" barrel vs a 5 or 5 1/2, is this true?  In performance I am referring to the ability to keep the round sub-sonic and therefore quieter?

I am setting up a Browning Buckmark, should I thread the 5 1/2 inch barrel or put a Trail lite 4 inch on it?

Well an inch probably won't make a huge difference. But if you plan on using standard ammo with a suppressor, then the shorter the better to help insure it stays subsonic. If you use subsonic ammo though with a suppressor, then the longer barrel will be quieter since it has more room for the gas to expand.
