Thinking of jumping into the NFA game with a suppressor purchase.

Have been referred to a TAC16 by one of my buddies.

I understand the weight and db reduction is similar to other cans.

Could I get some informed opinions about them ?

I don't know how informed my opinion is but, you are talking about a very entry level suppressor.  For a little more money, you can get a lot more suppression without adding much size, weight, or cost.  An AAC Ranger II or M4-1000 are two I would personally consider in a competive price range.  I have not shot a YHM can but, they come highly recommended by people I trust who have shot GemTech, AAC, and YHM together for Demo's.

i own a tac16. It is good quality and very much dont regret buying it. IT is VERY quiet. Saying that, I'd look into a YHM.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the TAC16....I feel they are a good value for the amount of money you are spending.

I noticed recently that TacInc increased their price to $449.99, it was in the high $300 range a while back.  At that price, I would get a YHM stainless Phantom instead.

It weighs 24.5 oz.  The AAC Ranger II weighs 15 oz and is slightly smaller in diameter.

Tac16:
24.5 oz
thread-mount
7.750" long
1.625" OD
MSRP $449.99

Ranger II:
15 oz
thread-mount ("C" spec)
6" long
1.5" OD
MSRP $475

I think the Ranger II is the much better buy.
