I just spoke with the lady at the NFA in WV to check on my Form 4 status and was told it went pending November 9th. I asked what the turn around times have been and she said they have hired a few new people and lost some of the old and there system is now running 90 days from the day it was mailed out. It has been almost 2 months since I sent mine and I thought I would have had it by now. Oh well. I even went the trust route hoping it would be faster. She said by the first of next year they should be back to 4 week approval times. Just thought I would let everybody know.

Everything to do with the government slows down around the holidays.

I'm sure you will have your back sometime soon and the wait will be well worth it.

Mine went pending Nov 5th, Still waiting. I was told it was a heavy work load slowing things down. But I'm sure the holidays are'nt helping matters.

Find out who the examiner is and talk with them.  It may speed it up, it has for me before.

I just got a can approved(F4 to an individual) in 24 days.  Examiner was Nicole Dudash.

Pretty quick I think, definitely compared to the 6 months it took for my first suppressor!

If you are leagal to own a firearn and pass the NICS check, what/ why would there be a delay?

What would disallow you from owning one/ receiving an approval?

You might want to do some reading on NFA FAQ.  You can start here

Probably dependant on the examiner. Mine took a day short of 2 months from the time I sent it in. Oct 5 - Dec 4. We had a HTF group buy, so Nancy Flannigan was pretty swamped.

Crap, I just called the NFA and my form 1 isn't even in the system yet, they cashed the check on the 7th of November.  They said that they're running about 6 weeks from the cashing of the check.

Also found out that my examiner is Ms. Nicole Dudash.

Anyone know much about her?

Yeah they are way behind are they hiring? I can do some processing for them .  She's pretty quick from what I've heard.

I have had 4 different examiner since I started collecting stamps and all have been rather speedy.  The first one was the worst for some reason.

Nicole Dudash approved mine 24 days after it was signed for by the ATF in GA.  You can't beat that, she is a great person to speak with, just got to get ahold of her(which can be hard).  It was signed for on November 1st I believe.

I was told 6 weeks as well but I call every other Monday to check status and then all of a sudden it was approved.

Sometimes calling often helps speed things up, for one of my transfers that the only reason it happened as they 'lost' it and because of my persistence calling they were able to find it and then get it approved.

I called today to check the status of a Form 4 that was mailed on Nov 14.  Still not in the system.  I was told its taking 6-7 weeks to go pending.

Here's a different view: stop calling and making the examiners spend time on the phone with you, thereby slowing the approval process down for everyone.

Approvals used to be a 9- to 12-month process...if everyone called to talk to an examiner every week to ask for status we'd all be waiting a year.  If it's been 90 days, by all means call, but not after 30 days.

ETA: No, munkalido, this is not a personal attack on you.  You just happened to be first in this thread to suggest calling an examiner.

Funny.  If I"ve called too early and found my forms are not yet in the system, they advise me of their processing timeline and THEY TELL ME WHEN I SHOULD CALL BACK.

Who said anything about calling every week??  Oh, wait.  I get it.  YOU call every week and just don't want anyone else calling at all as that may tie up the phones.

BTW, the NFA has phone mail.  If they're busy and don't answer, leave a message.  They'll call back when they can.

ETA:  When you talk to the examiner you may find a problem that can be fixed by faxing information to them and expedite the process, saving BOTH of you time

I called yesterday and they told me my forms were not even in the system yet...

So I called the next day (the guy on the phone yesterday was an idiot) and I was told by the nice lady: Forms Approved!!!!!

So I was out of the system, in the system, pending, and approved all in one day I guess.

I do not call to request status of mine.  I just wait it out.

My dealer called yesterday and my AAC Evo-9 was approved.  65 days mailbox-to mailbox as opposed to 31 days for my SBR on a Form 1.

After waiting 4 1/2 years for my Shiloh Sharps buffalo rifle, everything else is gravy.

Crap, I keep calling to ask my examiner something but it seems that Ms. Dudash comes in very early and leaves by noon...which is around 10 my time.
