Ok, I am new to suppressors am looking at purchasing my first. I was looking at the SWR Trident 9, but have some questions you folks might answer for me. I am looking for a suppressor that would be easily taken off one firearm and put on another. In 9mm I have the following: Cohairie Rifle soon to be SBR AR15 9mm w/16" barrel HK USP 9 Ok, now for my questions. First what kind of mounting system is the best, easiest, or whatever? QD or threaded Is the SWR Trident 9 the suppressor that I need but is there any others that I am over looking? Where is a good place to buy one of these either local or online? Thanks for helping a new guy! Here is where I have been reading about them. www.swrmfg.com/ProductDetails.asp?ID=20 |

SWR Trident is a very good one to get.The most popular thread configuration is 1/2x28 for 9mm cans and AR uppers in .223 configuration,I know your 9mm AR upper may have a different thread pitch but with the SWR you can get different pistons for them so it should propose a big problem.I would get the SWR but you need to find out what the thread pitch for your AR 9mm upper are and your Cohairie SBR and buy the appropriate pistons, thats if SWR makes them. Threaded is best for your pistol.I thnk they make a subgun adapter IIRC on another site. |

I was told by Henry at SWR that the 3-lug for the AR is the best. No need to check after every 15 or so rounds to make sure it hasn't backed off with the thread mount. With the 3-lug, you snap it on and go. Since the entire mounting system is easily changed, I say go with a 3lug on the AR (will require either a barrel with the 3 lugs machined in or a 3-lug adapter on a threaded barrel) and then get the LCD mount for the pistol. I've had to scrap my plans for the exact same setup you are going for so I actually have a new 3-lug mount from SWR for sale if you are interested and decide to go that route. It's new and cheaper than buying new. -X |

Oh, and let me tell you from first hand experience. The Trident 9 on the USP SD is VERY quiet with decent subsonic ammo. You will be extrememly happy with the Trident. I personally wouldn't even bother looking any further for a 9mm can, but that's just my honest opinion. -X |
The Trident will work great. Get the 13.5L X 1 booster and the 3-lug for the trident. Also get a tros 3-lug adaptor for the AR so you can swap the trident between the AR & MP5 without changing adaptors. Here are some of my similar hosts w/ the trident ![]() ![]()
