| I was looking into possible getting an lasermax rail mount laser. I have a sig 226 with an evo 40 can on it. I would like to be able to see the laser with the can on. Question is what laser options are there, and would the lasermax system clear the can? thx |

Not the most reliable, durable, or accurate of lasers in my personal opinion. I'd save a bit more and look @ the Crimson Trace laser grips, they always clear the can and are rugged. Also remember the lasermax rail mounted setups also require different holsters to accommodate the extra bulk whereas the C.T. grips fit every time! www.crimsontrace.com/default.asp?id=530 Can be had for less $ here: Crimson Trace |
I've never been scuba diving with mine, but they work fine in the rain. |
But if I drop it in a puddle I'm SOL? |
Very nice setup.hat |
Whats your source for the 250,000 laser grips in USGI service? I've seen them used, but not nearly as commonly as that figure would indicate. |

From Trace itself. Ask them how many the military has contracted them to make. Last numbers I got back in 2003 was well over 80k. Newer numbers contracted for another 100k and then another for far more. All I know is that when DOD comes knocking and they need it, the little factory churns it out. But personally the last verified bragging numbers was 80k that they advertised OFFICIALLY. But I have been told more contracts were churned out so the numbers keep growing. |
All of your info about the lasermax is about the internal model. As the picture above shows, the rail mount would obviously clear. And the rest of the stuff has no effect on the rail mount. I've never heard any problems with the rail mount lasermax, but they are new, so who knows. Either laser will do fine, I'd say. |

"One soldier dropped his m9 and forgot about it while it dragged under his humvee for 10 miles or so. m9 was beaten to shit but still functioned and the lasergrips... still fine." That soldier needs to pay attention. I saw guys in my unit wearing through the grips from just wearing them in leg rigs which allow the pistol to rub on HMMWV doors and troop straps in turrets- They worked but they didn't look too hot with exposed electronics. I Think they are a good product when used with holsters that make sense- the leg rigs don't in my opinion in terms of comfort or anything else for longer time than a 3 hour CONUS SWAT callup. |

Putting in a matter of perspective....Trace has replaced grips that were user fuckups before as a courtesy to our soldiers. Being one myself and stationed in Mosul as an IT geek for our unit. I was not impressed with how many were treating their shit. That's rather disapointing to me the way many were just rather lax about that kind of stuff. I guess it comes with the territory that whatever someone gives you..you can treat it like shit because its not yours. I know dozens of active, reservist, NG, and Army civilians that treat their computer in the office likes its their personal shit. Pretty soon by next year I was warned that the Army with the use of very tight ass security will prevent everyone from using their computer. |
