Can somebody comment on the difficulty of installing an Ops Inc 16th model on an otherwise factory Colt-6920.

I'm assuming the brake is as easy as remove the factory muzzle device and install the Ops brake to the correct torque spec.  Is there a specific washer or indexing needed?

How about the barrel collar on a 6920 barrel profile?  Is it as easy as sliding it on and tightening a set screw, or is there more involved.

Basically, I'm trying to see if this is something a competent home "wrench" who doesn't have any experience setting up suppressors can accomplish, or if I should farm the setup out to someone like Adco.

I definetely don't want to send a round into the side of my new $1,000 toy.

Thanks for any help guys.

Simple drop in. remove flash hider. Install collar, tighten set screw, install mount, done.

you can check by running a cleaning rod down the bore for your peace of mind.

I'm thinking about getting this model/  How far back from the muzzle is the furthest end of the collar?

Remove the factory flash hider.
Slide the collar on to the barrel until it stops. Tighten the set screw.
Install the provided crush washer with the concave portion facing the barrel shoulder (flat side facing the muzzle brake).
Install the muzzle brake with the thinner portion of the brake facing the top of the barrel.
That's it!

Enjoy you new OPS Inc. can. I love mine.

Isn't that going to vary on the contour or is the collar built for that?

I'm pretty sure that the barrel has to have the correct contour. I would check with BB on that. He seems to be the OPS Inc. expert here.

My understanding is the barrel contour does need to be correct.  I have three Bushmaster M4 barrels.  Only two had the proper cut for the 16th's collar.  Just make sure the barrel is correct and you'll have no worries.

+1.  The barrel needs to be set-up for an OPS Inc collar.  The collar fits against a 20 degree ramp cut in the barrel and the location is critical as the collar location determines how many turns of the suppressor get it tight on the barrel. You want the muzzle brake suppressor mount threads to time correctly inside the suppressor and the collar location is what determines this.

IIRC the step needs to be .05" and located depending on suppressor model.

If the OP has a factory Colt 6920, as he indicated, its a simple drop in installation.
