I was discussing silencers with a local dealer, and he advised me that Ops Inc products should be avoided do to the use of flat low-tech flat washers for baffles in their products. I found this unbelievable. But I do not own one and I can't say I have ever heard what type technology Ops Inc uses. I couldn't really agrue but it did really make me curious. What type is used?

You're dealer doesn't know what the hell he's talking about and I'll bet doesn't have any experience with Ops Inc products-what's he trying to sell you?

It's one thing if you're not a fan of the product and can explain why with an informed explanation, it's another one to make up an outright lie about something that you have no experience with to try and sell another product.

I own 5 suppressors all from diff. manufactures. none from Ops, BUT..... I would be glad to buy one if I needed to buy a 3rd 5.56 can. Check out the torture videos of ops cans... its a seller for me and I thought I could destroy anything in the world....

He stocks other brands, but not Ops Inc. They look like a great product and I like the two point mount. That is what got the conversation going in the first place. I looked on thier web site and did not find anything about what type of internals they use. I would really like to be able to go back and tell him that Ops Inc uses XYZ baffles not flat washers. That is the reason for the post.

Ask him what kind of baffles Surefire uses

OPSINC suppressors are some of the longest-lived in the US military inventory.

Maybe they're some kind of special flat washer (like really flat) because the 12th and 16th models I heard are very quiet.

In a few days, I should have two Ops Inc suppressors I can look at.  In a few weeks I should be able to take them home.  :)

What dealer?  I live in the same state, and might know him.

Ops Inc makes good products.  The military buys a few every now and then.  Perhaps the dealer dislikes the marketing techniques and absurd testing methods they use.

It is doubtful that they use "flat washers", and you need to ask your dealer how he knows this and if he can provide any proof.

Yeah, but what would this Sinister character know?  Not like he's ever shot anything or been around high-speed toys much...

So who owns an OPS can?

What is the baffle shape?

is it a flat washer?

I would have thought that would be the first thing people would be comming down on.

I've unscrewed my Ops can many times and looked down into it.  There is nothing in there that meets the description of "flat washer" that I can see.
