I found these at McMaster Carr, but don't know the right size for an AR with can. Anyone know which size is right? Any benefit of stainless over steel? |

Be a bit wary. The theory is great, but these are stamped parts. Although they do work well for what they were designed for, there is always the question as to whether the sides will remain absolutely parallel. If not, you can have misalignment. My experience with them has not been completely positive. I know AWC used to provide them with some of their thread-on suppressors in .223, but I am not sure they still do. For a while we were supplying them until we started to notice a few endcap kisses. If you want a pair, send me a stamped, addressed small envelope, and I'll drop a set in the mail. I think I have a box of them on the shelf. |
Thank you for the gracious offer. Glad I have 2 Gemtech cans (HALO & Mossad)! I haven't had any issues with my HALO (wouldn't expect any given how it mounts on the FH), but I have had endcap strikes on another manufacturer's screw-mount can on a 10.5" LMT upper. It's not clear to me whether those strikes were due to the short barrel & unstabilized bullet or to the can unscrewing a bit during firing. The can was slightly loose but I don't know if it was enough to misalign the bores - and I'd rather not do a test to find out. If you're OK knowing that I'm going to use the Nordlocks in conjunction with another company's can, I'll get an envelope out to you tomorrow. If not, I understand. |
I have used them on a 223 suppressor. I have not seen any indication that they might not be parallel. Anyway, WHATEVER system you use to mount your suppressor, its always worth looking down the barrell once you have it affixed, to ensure that things are concentric. This is fairly easy to do on an AR. |
