Greetings.  Don't see a FAQ thread, so here's my question.  For a suppressor form 4 NFA transfer, does the suppressor's serial number get listed, and becomes the NFA item?  So it's subject to NFA rules; interstate travel, change of address, etc.  How about the pistol?  Is it also listed by serial number becoming a NFA item?

The suppressor is the registered nfa item, not the gun.

Thanks!  Another day [wasted]..., learned something new.

Also got this from silencertalk.com/forum/

Only the can is NFA. They do not care about pistols.

And the BATFE does not care about interstate travel as far as suppressors are concerned as long as the states which you are traveling within are NFA friendly states. They only require SBRs, MG, etc., to be registered for travel under a 5320.20.

eta: that's ass backwards from SBR where they care about the lower and not the upper.

Mainly because the BATFE considers the Silencer a "firearm" as far as NFA is concerned. With a SBR, MG, etc. the receiver is the "firearm".

It makes sense when you consider that a silencer can be readily attached to numerous weapons.
