I have a Gemtech Outback 2 and really have no idea how to clean the thing. Soaking it in a solvent was what has previoulsy been suggested, but how the hell should I go about doing that? and is this really a good idea ? This is the first one I have owned so any advise would be great.

hopefully P Dater will be along to tell you how to do it. or you could PM him and ask.

it should be in the owners manual. most use a mix of ATF and acetone but i don't have one so check around first.

Again, read the manual.  There is really no way to truly clean a sealed up 22 silencer, and unless you shoot a few cases of 22 ammo in your lifetime, you don't need to be too worried about a real cleaning anyway.

If you are going to soak it in what Gemtech recommends, buy a length of PVC pipe and two PVC end caps for each end.  Use that for soaking purposes and give it a shake or two each day and then drain and blow out with compressed air.
