Another thread got me thinking about 5.56 baffle strikes.

Does a single baffle strike typically damage a supressor's ability to supress?

Can many supressors survive a few baffle strikes?

If the baffles look ok to the naked eye are they ok?

Most of the time it isn't really a strike but the can gets loose and a round just kisses the inside of the bore, or takes a little half moon out of the front cap- those issues won't kill a can but they won't make a user happy either.

If you somehow let the suppressor loosen enough to get a ligitimate strike- then you are probably screwed- who knows how much damage will occur- most full on strikes will ruin a suppressor.  The suppressor traps gas and lets a bullet through- it doesn't do that well when a baffle is obstructing the bore, or when there are extra bore holes running through the can.

It's not something people should worry about- KEEP THE CAN TIGHT and don't use crazy ammo (Like Aguila SSS through a 1/16 twist, and you won't have problems.
