What would be the best way to check the alignment of the threads to the bore? I Had my post ban barrel threaded locally a couple of years ago for a flash hider. I know they single point cut the threads, but thats about all I know. The suppressor is at the dealer, and I dont want to shoot it on this barrel until I check it. Thanks wg |

Depends on caliber, but a piece of .220" drill rod down the bore works fairly well on a .223 rifle for checking alignment. Mount the can and drop the drill rod down the barrel. It should center up in the aperature in the end cap. The other (better) option is to find a competent machinist that can guage it. Why be cheap when you are talking about a $500-$1200 can and a $200 tax stamp and a couple months of waiting time. It's worth the $40 of shipping costs to even send it to the suppressor manufacturer for them to check. |

The drill rod size is 7/32" (0.219). Be sure when you buy it that it is straight. These are available at almost any shop that sells machine tools. They are also available for a couple of bucks from MSC supply, J&L Tools, and other mail-order tool houses. Philip H. Dater. |
