It seems that the posts of "NFA APPROVED in only 86 DAYS!!!!!!" are gone for the foreseeable future. It seems now that anything over 30-45 days is a rare thing and something has gone horribly wrong. The stories from the "old guard" of NFA about how it used to take the BATFE 6 months just to lose your Form 4 the first time around have become a thing of urban fokelore.

This all still amazes me given that the latest statistic I heard is that as many as 50% of foms received by NFA Branch have some kind of error requiring correction before they can be approved.

Passable efficiency the norm from a gov't agency? Better yet from the BATFE?

I'm spellbound. Just for the record Mine came through when people were still waiting 6 months or more. OF course, it was on a corporate form 1.

Don't be so sure. If you have been reading the boards lately, I've been bitching almost daily because the People's Republik of Maryland has taken almost 10 slow weeks just to give me the CLEO sign-off. I called again today to get the run around. Uh, um, a, we sent the paperwork back in June, but we don't know what happened to it. Hopefully I have the damn thing before Christmas.

What does your state government have to do with the turn around at the BATF?

IIRC that was all when the BATF was in the process of moving offices/headquarters which took over a year.

I know what you mean.  I am also waiting on my Form 1 to come in, and I am going to order a 10.5" upper.  Then looking at a SBR 9mm upper, then....

Patience, grasshopper....

I woduln't call till after it's been a month.

As for the phone number, do a search online. I dont' have it in front of me, but i remember last time looking and finding it. They also recently changed their  number, IIRC, but they have a message with the new number.

screw patience.  I just checked my account online and my $200 check cleared.  That ought to mean something, right?

That means they received it and cashed it. In the past year, it's been over a month from the time my checks were cashed, to the time the approval came.

that makes no sense.

I bet my dealer sent it in way late- like late enough to where they didn't get to it the very first of the month...
