I looking to order my 22lr can this week. I keep on reading about how much louder is the first round. My question is what causes the pop and how long between rounds before the pop comes back.

frp is from the oxygen in the can...if you put say...3 drops of rubbing alcohol in the back of the can before you shoot it it cuts it down a bit..  when does it come back?....when it cools off and the oxygen gets back in the can...

another way is to hold your breath and blow into the can.  it will get a good dose of carbon dioxide.  but it looks like your going to shoot youself and may scare the "sheeple shooters"

the pop is caused by oxygen in the can being burned at a very fast rate. how loud is a matter of much debate.

as to how long before it returns , I've read accounts of snipers in vietnam shooting into a berm before they left camp and then they put a piece of tape over the muzzle hole to keep oxygen from entering the can . its supposed to work for quite a while , and when they needed to shoot the bullet just passes through the tape.

without the tape it depends on how fast you shoot and weather the oxygen can push the powder smoke out of the way.

I always heard it was oxygen. So if I was to nitrogen or co2 purge than tape end off before I shoot should make it quieter on first shot. I will try a good experiment with purge 1st vrs non purge 1st shot. I hope to remember this by the time all this paper work is done.
