Would there be the problem with usung a .223 can on a .22 also? .

Aside from it getting REALLY crudded up.. No. But..

They do not get crudded up as much as you might think.

1) They have more volume.

2) Intermittent .22LR followed by .223 tends to blow a lot of the crud out.

The real downside to using a .223 can on a .22LR is weight. They are 15-25+ ounces vs. 2.5-4 ounces for a dedicated .22LR suppressor. On a Ruger 10/22 the weight is noticeable.... on a Walther P22 the weight is pretty unbearable. Also, the size may affect usability of various iron sights depending on the gun. A dedicated .22LR can is usually 1" diameter vs. 1-3/8" or 1-1/2" on a .223.
