| I just bought a Outback 2 and wandering if I can shoot regualr .22 lr rounds or does the ammo have to be subsonic ONLY ? |
Lets say most match and standard velocity ammo might be subsonic. Most high and hyper velocity, minimag, stinger, etc. will be supersonic. CB caps are fun too. You will have to manually cycle the action, but they are amazingly quiet. Don't shoot the very heavy bullet Collibri SSS stuff, it will probably hit the baffles . |
CB caps are very quiet, but accuracy sucks. I got a nice 3-shot 8" group at 40 yds from a scoped bolt-action.
You are confusing two different things. Aguila Colibri and Super Colibri are powderless cases with only a primer charge and a light (20 grain) bullet. I get similar accuracy from these as I get from CB caps. But again, they are very quiet. Aguila SSS features the heavy (60 grain) bullet. These can have unstability / baffle strike issues. I've gone to a .223 Contender barrel with a .22LR chamber adapter to shoot these. The rifling twist is just right for 60 grain bullets. |
22LR ammo is cheap. Buy and shoot lots of different types. Then go buy CCI Subsonics, or Standard Velocity. You will see the difference. |
Thats bullshit. Lead still sticks in the can as a tiny bit sprays off with each shot. 22 powder is dirty so you still get carbon lead buildup. I shoot CCI exclusively and 98% Minimags and still you get the filth. |
In the 3.4" bbl P22 only some hyper-vel stuff will be supersonic (stingers, and then only maybe). All high vel stuff will be subsonic. |
You should try the Wolf MT. It's hard to get...but fantastic (& for only like $25 / brick) Cloverleafs all day at 50 yds with my 10/22. |
