Can anyone tell me how long Gemtech's 3-lug adaptor is? I'm about to send my barrel off to be cut/crowned/threaded & need to know for overall barrel length. |

I've got a TROS adapter right here. It's overall length is 1.39". Gemtech has various sources for their 3 lug adapters one of them is TROS. Note that Gemtech recommends to have the 3 lug adapter threaded almost all the way through. Gemtech spec is to leave .060" from the end of the 3 lug adapter to the end of the rifling. Like seen in my pic below. This reduces a "freebore" condition and carbon buildup. Both would occur if you had the 3 lug adapter only threaded about 1/2 of its length. You can see in my pic below an IMI UZI barrel that has the rifling going almost to the end leaving only .060" from the end of the rifling to the end of the adapter.

Didn't know that, but it makes sense. Sending it to Gemtech for threading. I figure if I'm using a Raptor it'd be best if they do it for warranty reasons, plus they told me it's typically < 30-day turnaround. So I'll just tell them the actual overall barrel length I want & be done with it. This is actually good, I like the idea of another inch of barrel in the same overall length. |
