| going to pick up a ruger mk2 22/45 in a few days and will be sending it off to get threaded..i will be hainging a tac67 off the end. what leangth bbl would you reccomend cutting it back to?..from the face of the reciver forward since you cannnot remove the bbls easily. also it is a factory 4" thanks scott |
I would leave the length right where it is. You should have about 0.4" of thread. |

+1 I had mine cut from 5.5" to 4". I clocked some CCI MiniMags at just over 1000 fps afterward. That seems to be just about the perfect length. If you go any shorter, you may have problems cycling if you shoot the gun without the can installed.

You really don't want to do that. Baffle strikes are a bad thing. There is no way to get the can aligned with the bore. Threading on a lathe is really the only way to install a screw-on suppressor. |
| i figured 3.5 or 4 would be ideal , i just didnt know if i could go shorter without problems. i have 3 other hosts for it but i am tired of the p22 pos i have been using so i decided to get the 2245 since it has a scope base on top and i know will shoot good once i get it finished..thanks for the input ..scott |
| What length for a MKII or 22/45? Interesting topic. The P22 suppressed is supposed to be quieter than the MKII. Theory is that the P22 bbl being shorter(3.2in.) and reduced action noise(metal to metal vs. p22's composite frame) make the P22 noticably quieter. The back pressure with a can on the P22 is said to make the P22 function better as well. It may be better to cut MKII or 22/45 bbl to 3in. to reduce velocity? |
Well, you are the only one I've ever heard make that claim. The muzzle adapter is precision machined, and fits flush against the muzzle. I don't see how it could be a problem. |
It's not the fit of the adapter to the barrel. It's that the bore isn't going to be exactly centered in the barrel. For more info from a much more knowledgable person, ask Phil Dater from Gemtech (he frequents these boards). He can go into much greater detail about how and how not to mount a can. If you're not getting baffle strikes, consider yourself lucky. |
the plastic grip has nothing to do with the noise. it is the cheap ass cast aluminum they use the ...frame isnot composite it is metal...the grip is pvc plastic and is held in place by 2 roll pins
