I just got the Glock 27 and am waiting for the 10 day wait period.. . but now I'm wondering if I made a mistake and should have gotten the Glock 26 or even the Glock 19.

I did get this pistol for its size - ccw, but considering the 19 is not much bigger and has the capability to hold 15 round pre-ban high caps, I'm wondering . .

I like .40, but have heard bad things about how heavy the recoil on the 27 is. . . I've never had the chance to shoot any type of 9mm pistol, just 45 ACP, .22, 357, .40, .380

Don't have a 9mm yet - already have a SIG 229 .40 S&W

I have had a G26 and a G19 at the same time and after getting the G19 I have to say I prefered it for shooting, but the G26 was easier to conceal.
Choice of caliber is pretty personal and if you are comfortable with the 40 and its small edge in "stopping power" whatever that is, stay with your initial choice and practice as much as possible.

FWIW

I have a Glock 26 and 19 and love them both. The Glock 27 is also a great handgun and you really can't go wrong with it.

I have also shot the Glock 27 and it is really not that bad for recoil. It's a keeper! Have fun shooting it.

I have the 27 and its a nice little gun.
I believe the 40 to be a very good cartridge and would buy one again.

The 27 isn't bad at all on recoil, I personally shoot better with it than I do the 23. same with the two 9mm's. The main difference with the two calibers is the .40'sbullet size and slightly more power than the 9mm! Just get a glock 22 15rd preban mag as a back up

I shoot my 27 better then my 22 if you can believe it. I think you will be quite happy with the 27. Don't worry so much. You can always buy a replacement barrel for it and shoot it as a 9mm anyway.

The difference in recoil between 9mm and .40S&W isn't too bad. Don't sweat it, if you don't like it there are always folks looking to trade a G26 for a G27 (check the for sale forums on glocktalk.com)

Capacity is not an issue for you--you live in California. It's illegal for you to purchase ANY high capacity magazine, pre-ban or post-ban. If you owned any hicaps on Jan 1, 2000, they're still legal, but you can't purchase any new ones. Sucks, huh?

Since the Sig is steel, there will be more felt recoil with the much lighter Glock--again, don't sweat it. if you're used to .40s, the G27 won't be anything you can't handle.
