I've been looking all over the place and can't find the answer to these questions so I figured I'd ask you guys. First off, will a standard AR15 buttstock work with an AR10 or is the buffer tube larger in diameter preventing this? Second, will an RAS for an AR15 work on an AR10? Third, where in the hell can one find an RAS for an SR25 carbine, Knight's makes them, just can't find them for sale. Fourth, anyone have an AR10 A4 carbine so I can find out how accurate it is, how reliable, etc. Fifth, I want a sighting setup that is multi purpose without having to buy two separate units. Right now I'm leaning towards getting an Aimpoint and a Tasco SS or Leupold Tactical for longer range shots ( no comments on the scopes, I know it's like comparing a pinto to a rolls royce, but it depends on the status of my bank account at the time of purchase). Sixth, is there a good source for AR10 carbine length free float tubes? Seventh, does anyone have an AR10 A4 Carbine they would like to sell for $50.00 and a hug. Eighth, if a fly didn't have wings would it be called a walk? |

The buffer tube and buttstock on an AR-10 are exactly the same parts that come on an AR-15. You can put any A-1 or A-2 AR-15 buttstock onto an ar-10, other than collapsible types. The bolt carrier on a 10 is longer than the AR-15, but the tail that goes into the buffer tube is the same diameter. Cannot help you on the other questions. |
| ..found a set of millett see thru rings....which raised up just right.....to put the tasco world class plus scope...stright 4 power..on it.....with thoughts of using an expensive scope in the future.....but why?....this works great.......dont use soft tip ammo.....actually....good surplus stuff works well......as far as accurate.....well..the gun is a whole lot more accurate than me.....of course..it`s never been in a rest...but 2-21/2 at 100....from a sandbag..makes me feel ok about it......... |

yes, a standard AR15 buttstock will work with an AR10. the buffer tube is not larger in diameter. give Knight's a call to be sure about the fit of the forearm. the AR-10A4 is the rifle the AR-10A2 is the carbine. i have an A4 and it will run when clean and oily. you get it diry it jams like any other AR. accuracy is .5-.75 MOA at 200 yds. i like Leupold. i have a setup with a 3.5x10 40mm, arms mount and low rings. on a carry handle. i can use the irons or scope. the scope works from 15yds.... inside of 15 yds i can close the objective lens cover and pickup the cross hairs like a reflex scope. i can use the irons underneath without pulling the scope or i can ignore the fuzzy target and pick up the target with my left eye and the cross hairs with my right. for AR10 carbine length free float tubes check with Armalite. |

Fourth question: I have an AR10 A4 with the stainless barrel and it shoots way better than I do. I have the A2 carbine too (with realtree finish), and it also shoots better than I do. I haven't had any problems with either. But then I haven't shot them all that much either. Fifth question: I have the Leupold tactical on an Armalite mount and it works well for me. Seventh question: Sorry, I only have the A2 in the carbine configuration. And I really needed a hug. |
| From what I understand the RAS (designed for the AR-15) will work on the 20" AR-10 models, but the carbine length RAS will not work due to the Armalite 16" Carbine has longer handguards than the AR-15 carbines. I have very recently confirmed with A.R.M.S. that they are producing a handguard / rail system for the AR-10 series rifles and to check back with them around March '03. |
