The optics on the M4s were aimpoints. Comp Ms or some similar model.

 AimPoint CompM2 www.aimpoint.com The above is a pic of the new, improved military AimPoint, the CompM2. The ones in BHD were either the previous model, the CompM, or one generation before that. The CompM and CompM2 both have very low dot-intensity settings for use with nightvision. They also make "civilian" models without these lower settings; the CompML and CompML2, which are $30-50 cheaper. The new "2" series have 30 times the battery life of the old CompM/CompML sights, plus have a stronger one-piece body and other improvements. IMO, and most folks agree, the CompM2/CompML2 sights are the best reflex-type sights available. -Troy |

ICBW, but I don't think the Aimpoint Comps were out yet in 1993. The previous version was the Aimpoint 5000. In the movie it looks like they used Aimpoint Comps, and I agree, they're the best reflex type sight available.
drjarhead, apples and oranges IMO. The ELCAN and the Trijicon ACOG are magnified scopes. The Trijicon Reflex sight is comparable but I think the Aimpoint Comp is a better choice. |

Thanks for all the info. What's the best way to mount a Comp M2 to an A2 AR-15? Where can I find the sight and mount for sale? Thanks.
