Anyone have or know anyone that has had or shot a Garand chambered in 308? I'm interested in building one. Are there any good sites it can get info on a project like this?

Not what you were looking for, but very interesting.  I got this link off an other forum.

I have a Springfield Armory model in .308. It very well made and accurate as well. I think the only difference between this and a 30-06 is the barrel and the ramp added in front of the barrel. I would highly recommend Springfield Armory in fact, I bought this one new a gun show and after I got home I didn't like the wood. It was a little thin at the grip and sort-of plain. I called SA and sent it to them and they exchanged the stock with a really nice piece of walnut at no cost.

Shoot well,

Jim

Fulton Armory 308 Garand. FA Match barrel, refinished original parts, Boyd's laminate stock.

I shoot this more than my standard Garands, mainly because I don't need to take an additional caliber along to the range, since I have a variety of 7.62x51 rifles.

I've got a 7.62mm barreled Garand from the Navy.  They rebarreled some Garands when the Army and Marines switched to the M-14 (so they could use the same ammo).  When I shot the Garand, I was amazed to find it did as well as my NM M1A (about 1 MOA)!

OMG!  It's like looking at a car accident.  I try to avert my eyes, but I can't help but stare in wonder and shock.

On the upside it's probably CA & NJ legal...

I bought a stripped receiver and had Clint at Fulton Armory build me a .308 M1. It's a work  of art.

I highly recommend Orion 7, I had them convert my Garand to a Tanker (18.5in barrel) & rebarrel in .308.
It shoots great (Easily 1MOA), And it is the only Tanker I have seen that actually works correctly!
